Desolate Winds/In Times Of Cold/Fallen Empire Records/2012 EP Review

Desolate  Winds  are  a  band  from  the  United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  ep  "In  Times  Of  Cold"  which  was  released  by  Fallen  Empire  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  playing  with  no  fast  drumming  or  blast  beats  being  present on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  atmospheric  black  metal  riffs  that  use  some  raw  and  primitive  elements  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  in  the  riffing  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on t his  recording.

Vocals  are  all  grim  sounding  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  that  have  a  depressive  tone  to  them  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  winter,  depression  and  isolation,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it  with  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Desolate  Winds  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should c heck  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK "In  Times  Of  Cold".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
