Manes/Maanens Natt/Hammerheart Records/1998 Re-Issue Review

Manes where a band from Norway that played a very dark and atmospheric form of black metal on this recording and later evolved in an experimental band and this is a review of their 1993 demo "Maanens Natt" which was re-issued by Mammerheart Records during 1998.

Drum programming from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the synths when they are utilized bring a dark atmospheric, epic feeling to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with riffs that dominate throughout the recording.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with a brief use of spoken word passages, while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, evil, raw and primitive sound to it.1

In my opinion Manes where a very great sounding atmospheric raw and primitive sounding black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Maanens Natt" and "Under Den Blodraude Maanen". RECOMMENDED BUY.
